In a time when Breed Specific Legislation is aggressively targeting pit bull type dogs, The Proper Pit Bull points the way forward to end breed stigma and showcase pit bulls in a positive light. The Scholar Pit program is a financial assistance program that has provided over 100 pit bulls and pit bull mixes with positive reinforcement training and behavior modification. Our goal is to continue to provide pit bull owners with access to affordable training and assist them in learning positive ways to manage and care for pit bulls of all backgrounds.

The Odin and Kathy Scholarship Fund
Friends and family came together to honor the memory of Odin and Kathy by donating to The Proper Pit Bull so that over 10 Pit Bull type dogs can benefit from our Scholar Pit program. The OK (Odin and Kathy) Fund will be a living memory of all the good that Odin and Kathy put out into the rescue community.

Templeton Scholarship Fund
This scholarship is in memory of Templeton. Thanks to the generous donations of our friend and supporter Tracie Helfmann, this scholarship will put up to 10 pit bulls through our Scholar Pit training program.
Templeton was a sickly little pup when first adopted that actually looked like a larger rat, the one from Charlotte's Web, hence the name Templeton. Templeton grew into an amazingly handsome and rather beefy boy, who fancied himself a lapdog.
Templeton loved his small circle of people and dog friends but held a special place for his Aunt Tracie. Any time Tracie babysat him - he would squeeze himself into the same chair where she would read to him. When they weren't reading, he would actively watch her play candy crush. They were the best of buddies.
Templeton left this earth at the age of 4 and a half after being diagnosed a few weeks earlier with a massive tumor in his stomach that had spread to other critical organs. His family will remember him as the loving gentle giant that he was and we're sure he's patiently waiting for his Aunt Tracie to read to him once again.

This scholarship is in memory of Tiny and River. Thanks to the generous donation of our friends at TinyCause, this scholarship put 8 pit bulls through our Scholar Pit training program!
TinyCause is a 501(c)(3) non-profit ... all proceeds are donated to no-kill animal shelters/rescues in the memory of Tiny.
Tiny was a gentle giant that changed lives for the better and was a positive pit bull ambassador. After he crossed the rainbow bridge, 'Tiny Cause' was formed. "We wanted to continue to do good in his honor as he lived his life doing good for others – our family especially. He was a one of a kind dog and I often refer to him as my doggy soul mate. He took a part of each of our hearts when he left."
River, their 4 year old tripawd pitty, crossed the rainbow bridge to join Tiny. He was a Scholar Pit graduate and always was a great representation of how loving & cuddly the breed truly is.
